A glimpse of Sushana

Who I am

My name is Sushana Thomas. My path to software engineering began outside of the traditional technology space. I started my career as an Operator in the security and investigations industry, where I gained experience in field operations, emergency response, databases, communication, teamwork, and problem-solving in fast-paced environments. I later transitioned into social services, where my work became more directly centered around supporting individuals and communities. That experience strengthened my ability to listen, communicate with empathy, understand different perspectives, and find solutions based on the needs of the people I served. Throughout each stage of my career, one thing has remained consistent: my passion for people and community. Whether working behind the scenes, supporting individuals directly, or solving complex problems, I've always been drawn to work that allows me to make a meaningful impact. Today, as a software engineer and web developer, I bring those experiences into technology with a passion for creating thoughtful, accessible, and meaningful digital solutions. I'm excited to continue growing my technical skills while using technology as another way to serve, connect, and positively impact the communities around me.

Projects

Every project is an opportunity to learn something new, solve a problem, and create something meaningful. Here are a few things I've built along the way.

One more thing

Outside of coding, I'm big on staying active and finding balance. Fitness and taking care of my health are important to me, so you can usually find me in the gym, out for a run, or enjoying a good hike. I'm also passionate about giving back and staying connected to my community through volunteering. When I'm not coding or being active, I enjoy watching movies and TV shows, exploring new things, and—most importantly—slowing down and being present with my friends and family. I believe some of the best moments happen when you simply make time for the people and experiences that matter most.
